Browns acquire Beckham from NY

  • NFL Giants were reportedly heavily shopping Odell Beckham Jr.

The biggest victor from the Odell Beckham jr. trade besides long-suffering Browns fans, is quarterback Baker Mayfield, who now gets to throw passes to one of the NFL's best receivers. Just two months later, one of the NFL's best weapons is headed to a new team.

Receiver Breshad Perriman will not return to the Cleveland Browns.

Browns fans, however, were elated.

If this trade did anything for the Giants, it made them pick a side. They might overpay every year for at least one free agent, but there's a little bit of mojo working here and it does feel like the 49ers will fly under the radar this year, which is something they certainly did not do last offseason. The Giants are now rebuilding, even if it's a year too late.

Thomas won't come cheap, as NFL Network reported on Monday that Thomas wants to be the highest-paid safety in the NFL, asking for a salary of at least $14 million per year.

And now new Browns coach Freddie Kitchens has another playmaker for Mayfield, the No. 1 overall pick past year who had a dazzling debut season in which he set the National Football League record for touchdown passes by a rookie.

Steve Keim, Dave Gettleman, it is your move now.

In a blow to Trump, America’s trade deficit hit record US$891b
We were at the tail end of the Great Recession then, and, because the economy was bad, Americans bought less stuff from overseas . No matter how many times Merkel points to German plants in the US producing cars and employing Americans, Trump doesn't get it.

Gettleman and the Giants surely had their reasons. And maybe there was more.

The deal for Beckham Jr.is conditional on both players passing physicals. Now, he's gone and the masses don't seem pleased. The Giants will receive a first-round pick in 2019 (No. 17 overall), the Browns' second third-round pick this year and safety Jabrill Peppers. Peppers was a key. He signed with Cleveland after he was released by the Ravens three years after the team took him with a first-round pick. They're remained close in the NFL. Instead, they've done a very good job assembling some cheaper talent to put around Josh Allen.

Though the deal the Giants got back is solid, and they could end up getting some quality players with the pick, they undoubtedly have weakened their team in the short-term. "We didn't sign Odell to trade him, OK?" Their defense is missing pass-rushers, a cover linebacker and cornerbacks.

Despite how great Brandin Cooks and Robert Woods have been at times, Los Angeles arguably doesn't have a bonafide No. 1 receiver, and it showed in Super Bowl 53 when they lost to the New England Patriots.

Steve Harvey, the television host who lived in Cleveland as a young boy, tweeted: 'Cleveland starting to look a lot like Christmas!'

NY is rolling with a 37-year-old Eli Manning at quarterback and received just $5 million in cap room by moving on from its star receiver.

Then again, there are lots of unfamiliar things going on in East Rutherford.
