Because Cohen didn't ask Trump for a pardon directly, Cohen was truthful when he told the House oversight committee last week that he "never asked for" one from the president, Davis said.

Earlier this year, Cohen hired two new Chicago lawyers and parted ways with the attorneys who represented him for months as he cooperated with Mueller and prosecutors in the Southern District of NY.

Cohen came under renewed scrutiny after telling Congress that he never sought a pardon from the president.

Trump said Cohen lied in court yet again with respect to whether he desired a position at the White House, saying his former lawyer wanted such a post "badly".

Michael Cohen, the former personal lawyer and fixer for President Donald Trump, sued the Trump Organization on Thursday.

Testifying on February 27 before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, Cohen called Trump a "con man" and "cheat", but offered no direct evidence that Trump or his campaign colluded with Moscow in the 2016 election. Instead, President Donald Trump's former lawyer will be on Capitol Hill talking about the crimes he is now accusing Trump of committing.

A federal judge sentenced him to serve a three-year term for crimes to which he pleaded guilty, including tax and bank fraud, campaign finance violations and lying to Congress.

Lanny Davis, Cohen's lawyer, said in a written statement Thursday that his client was "open to the ongoing "dangling" of a possible pardon by Trump representatives privately and in the media" in the months after the Federal Bureau of Investigation raided Cohen's home, office and hotel room in April 2018.

Imran Khan: Won't let armed groups function in Pakistan
Pakistan faces growing worldwide pressure to rein in Islamist groups that carry out attacks in neighbouring India . The next day, Islamabad captured an Indian Air Force pilot after a dogfight between the two air forces.

Michael Cohen's lawyer Lanny Davis told two news outlets on Wednesday that the former Trump attorney reached out for a pardon through a representative a year ago, contradicting Cohen's own testimony. Once he exited that pact, Cohen dropped interest in being pardoned by Trump, David claims.

Trump and Giuliani have repeatedly questioned Cohen's credibility.

Cohen's lawsuit also renews an allegation that's dogged Trump for much of his career: He has a penchant for cheating people out of money he had promised them.

"Over the last several years, President Trump has evaded accountability for his near-daily attacks on our basic legal, ethical, and constitutional rules and norms", House Judiciary Committee chairman Jerry Nadler said.

Cohen said in his open testimony before the House that he "never" asked for a pardon.

These include Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigation of Russian influence in the 2016 United States presidential election, as well as multiple congressional probes. "That continues to be the case", Davis said Wednesday.

Davis did not immediately respond Thursday to text messages and emails seeking additional information.
