  • Paris Jackson speaks on sexual abuse allegation against Michael Jackson

'The decisions we make about the music we play on any of our stations are dependent on the relevance to the audience and the current context, ' he said in a statement given to Daily Mail Australia.

At this stage, no United States or United Kingdom radio stations have confirmed their intention to do so.

A spokesperson for the owner of the French-language stations CKOI, Rythme and the English-language The Beat said they pulled Jackson's music on Monday morning, according to CBC.

It's the story of two men aged 36 and 41, Wade Robson and James Safechuck, who have laid out, in gruellingly graphic detail, what their boyhood friendships with Jackson entailed. And in New Zealand, as the New York Times reports, the nation's two largest radio networks announced today they were banning Jackson's music due to backlash from the documentary, a move that essentially erases Jackson from the radio in that country.

The 98five SunshineFM chief executive, Bevan Jones, said they "don't play much Michael Jackson" but had cut the singer from its playlist in response to feedback from listeners.

Dean Buchanan, group director of entertainment at broadcaster NZME said: "NZME station playlists change from week to week and right now Michael Jackson does not feature on them".

Rival broadcaster NZME also will not be playing the late pop star's music. Other stations in Canada are reported to be monitoring the situation.

Winfrey told her studio audience, which included more than 100 abuse survivors, that "for me, this moment transcends Michael Jackson".

Filmmaker Dan Reed said he hoped the allegations will shift opinions on Jackson and has asked fans to "re-evaluate the way we see" the singer.

The documentary "Leaving Neverland" began airing on HBO Sunday.
