  • Ravens salary cap update How Joe Flacco's trade affects Ravens 2019 salary cap

The trade can not become official until the start of the new league year on March 13.

Last April, the Ravens drafted Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Lamar Jackson with their first-round pick.

Keenum is still under contract through 2019, and Flacco possibly solves any immediate need the Broncos have at the position. He has completed 61.7 percent of his passes for 38,245 yards and 212 touchdowns. In turn, leaving the status of 2018 starter Case Keenum up in the air. Trading him would result in the Broncos taking a $3 million cap hit, and cutting Keenum would put the Broncos on the hook for $7 million.

Last season, Keenum tied for the second-most interceptions in the National Football League with 15 as he recorded 6.6 yards per pass attempt in 2018. He is to be paid $18.5 million next season, $20.25 million in 2020 and $24.25 million in 2021.

The Miami Dolphins appear ready to move on from quarterback Ryan Tannehill as well, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. NFL rules prohibit teams from discussing trades until the start of the league year on March 13.

Baseball Hall Of Famer And Pioneer Frank Robinson Dies At 83
Major League Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred released the following statement in the wake of Robinson's passing. Late in his playing days, Robinson became baseball's first African-American manager for the Cleveland Indians .

Though Flacco has won a Super Bowl and had a legendary stretch of outstanding play in that entire postseason, his play has generally been mediocre, or worse, since that winter.

Hip and back injuries were concerns for Flacco in recent seasons.

But then again, it's important to note when it was reported in December that Flacco and the Ravens would part ways, Baltimore wanted to treat Flacco with class. While Denver general manager John Elway could wade into quarterback waters to find Flacco's eventual replacement, that doesn't jibe with his mindset.

Heck, some might even view Elway, who has missed on Keenum and Paxton Lynch and badly mishandled the position since landing Manning, putting his stamp of disapproval on this class as a positive.

Elway is always in what he calls win "from now on" mode, and Flacco's arrival will be just more proof of that.
