  • Michael Cohen former lawyer to President Donald Trump leaves his apartment building in New York. A report by Buzz Feed News citing two unnamed law enforcement officials says that Trump directed Cohen to lie to Co

"We had to report it and attribute it to BuzzFeed, and as I said on our air, we don't know whether or not this story is accurate, contextual, true, and it needs to be run down", he said.

President Donald Trump's lawyer Rudy Giuliani left open Sunday the possibility that Trump and former personal attorney Michael Cohen might have discussed Cohen's congressional testimony. He told CNN's State of the Union: "So what if he talked to him?" while insisting that the president did not instruct Cohen to lie.

Yes, Jeff. That's exactly it.

An investigation into Russia's interference in the 2016 election and possible collusion between Moscow and Trump's campaign has loomed large over the Trump presidency amid media reports of his team's connections with Russian Federation. "I still believe he may have been telling the truth when he testified before Congress". The special counsel's statement said "BuzzFeed's description of specific statements to the Special Counsel's Office, and characterization of documents and testimony obtained by this office, regarding Michael Cohen's Congressional testimony are not accurate".

Dowd, who resigned from Trump's legal team in March, also told the Daily News that Trump did not speak directly with Cohen about the testimony.

In his plea deal, Cohen admitted to lying to Congress when he said the Moscow project discussions ended in January 2016, when the negotiations continued through June of that year - a period during which Trump was campaigning vigorously and on his way to securing the GOP nomination. "But the president's recollection of it is that the thing had petered out (subsided) quite a bit", and the construction project never materialized.

US Forces Japan Describe N. Korea as 'Declared Nuclear State'
There was no word as to whether Trump would meet with Kim Yong-chol while the latter is in Washington. Some are suspicious of the timing of Kim Yong Chol's Washington visit.

The latest disclosure extends that timeline right up to the presidential elections in November.

The Sunday discussion on Joy Reid's program followed Giuliani's "Meet the Press" appearance in which he revealed that Trump may have been engaged in talks to build one of his namesake towers in Moscow as recently as November 2016.

The Moscow deal ultimately did not materialize but Giuliani's remarks suggest that Trump's discussions about the project with Cohen may have dragged on months longer than had been publicly known. "I expect him to say in two weeks that Trump is guilty of everything".

"The fact of the investigation has nearly insulated Trump because we're all waiting for that final report, the package that's going to tie all these dots together, as opposed to, as you say, reacting to stunning revelations one by one that should be president-ending, term-ending". "My comments did not represent the actual timing or circumstances of any such discussions". Cohen was pursuing the deal in Russian Federation, while Trump was focused on the election, he said.

Cohen, who has been sentenced to three years in prison for lying to lawmakers, is expected to testify before the Democratic-led House Oversight Committee on February 7.
