Lexington Police officers in Kentucky went viral for their response to a Krispy Kreme Doughnuts truck fire destroying the goods inside.

- Police departments across the country are offering their condolences to the officers who responded to a burned up Krispy Kreme truck in Kentucky.

Police had some fun New Year's Eve playing to a traditional stereotype.

The truck's fire was extinguished quickly and the cause remains undetermined but officers are investigating.

With that, the officers made a decision to express their sadness in a joking tweet, sharing photos of themselves looking disappointed in front of the burned truck. Prayers to LPD as they deal with this loss.

"This literally hurts my soul", the department commented on Facebook, along with the hashtag "I donut think we can recover from this". 'We hope you like sprinkles'.

Krispy Kreme tweeted back in amusing fashion as well, writing, "We're thinking of you during this hard time...and have more doughnuts on the way!"
