No wonder Netflix subscribers went nuts after receiving this news.

The hit 1990s sitcom, which is still one of the most popular comedies in the United States thanks to its availability on Netflix, is leaving the streaming giant on January 1, according to its page on Netflix's website.

In a tweet on Monday, Netflix (nflx) said that the series, which has been available on Netflix since January 1, 2015, will remain on the service through 2019, allaying fears that it would be removed on January 1, 2019. In 2014, when Netflix first bought those rights, it paid $500,000 an episode.

As THR reminds us, Friends is expected to leave Netflix and join rights-holder WarnerMedia's own streaming service sometime down the road. And in the meantime, it's reportedly squeezing $100 million out of Netflix to allow the company to have Friends for one last exclusive year, in 2019.

Disney will also be giving Netflix a run for its month with its service called Disney+ which will be launching in late 2019.

Marco Silva: ‘power’ of Merseyside derby win can give Everton confidence boost
We have a good mentality too and we work hard every week. "Yes, in specific games we can say that", he said. We played well, we drew - it was a good result because Chelsea were unbeaten.

Could we BE any more happy?

However: An executive familiar with the show's contract told USA Today there aren't immediate plans for Netflix to drop the show. To that end, it is wrapping up its lucrative licensing deal with Netflix in order to make its Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar, and Disney Animation titles (as well as all kinds of original content) only available on one streaming product: Disney's.

While the battle might have been won, the next one might be far more hard to fight.

"The One Where Friends is Going Nowhere, Don't Worry", it replied to one anxious fan. After fans went insane (and even started a petition to keep the show on the platform), Netflix made everyone's Christmas wish come true, courtesy of a Ross Geller meme.
