Peace at last between North and South Korea?

Seoul and Pyongyang will on Friday kick off a 16-day joint on-site survey of rail on the east and west coast of the peninsula, the South Korean Ministry of Unification (MOU) announced on Wednesday.

While the USA did not use its veto in the UN Security Council to block its ally, the Trump administration is increasingly dissatisfied with moves by South Korean President Moon Jae-in to foster closer relations with North Korea prior to a deal on its denuclearisation. -North Korean dialogue and North-South rapprochement efforts could cause "everything to go down the drain". The two countries - technically still at war after the 1950-53 Korean War ended with a ceasefire instead of a peace treaty - have said they aim to hold a groundbreaking ceremony before the end of the year.

"We are in frequent contact with North Korean officials".

There has been a rapid diplomatic thaw on the Korean peninsula with Moon playing a key role in brokering a historic meeting between Kim and US President Donald Trump in Singapore in June.

North Korea had postponed a meeting scheduled for early this month in NY, in which U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo was expected to press Kim's regime to list its nuclear weapons and related sites.

"The US is saying that the nuclear issue serves as a hindrance to North Korea-US relations, but even if the issue should be resolved, it would continue to take issue with human rights and come up with other additional conditions so as to force us to change our system as it requires", it added.

Fisher told reporters he was not aware of the incident and "had no idea" what happened. "I felt like he tore something in there". Craig , who was LSU's receivers coach in 2016, approached LSU's bench in the midst of a crowd storming shouting vulgarities.

It's not the first time pungsan dogs have been given by North Korea to South Korea - Kim Jong Il presented some to then-South Korean president Kim Dae-jung.

Some believe that Washington may be attempting to keep North Korea in check.

The South's dovish president Moon Jae-in has long favoured engagement with the North, which is subject to United Nations sanctions over its nuclear activities. Last week, US Defence Secretary James Mattis foreshadowed that the annual joint Foal Eagle war games would proceed next year, albeit "reduced in scope" so as to keep from "being harmful to diplomacy".

Despite apparent flexibility on sanctions, the USA remains guarded. South Korea had about 60 posts inside the DMZ guarded by layers of barbed wire and manned by troops with machine guns.

South Korean competitors welcomed the prospect.

The chemicals to control pine tree diseases are not subject to UNSC sanctions on the North, it said.

Though Kim had previously expressed his willingness to shut down the nuclear site, there were no reports of him agreeing to allow inspectors in to verify the site.
