England head coach Eddie Jones laughed off the prospect of Owen Farrell being cited for a risky tackle at the end of Saturday's 12-11 win over South Africa.

With the clock beyond the 80-minute mark at Twickenham, England were desperately trying to keep the Springboks at bay before Andre Esterhuizen made a line break.

He appeared to lead with the shoulder in tackling Andre Esterhuizen, an offence that under the current crackdown on unsafe tackles could have resulted in a red card being issued by referee Angus Gardner.

Referee Angus Gardner consulted the TMO before declining to award the Springboks a kickable penalty that if landed would have changed the result.

South Africa head coach Rassie Erasmus was asked about the tackle after the game and gave a brilliant sarcastic response, saying the tackle was very "effective" and that "we should do it".

"If that's the only way you can stop people and tackle like that, and it's in the rules, then we should tackle like that".

"We were actually at the stadium so we weren't having scones or a cup of tea", he said.

Murdered Saudi journalist 'strangled as soon as he entered consulate'
The murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi inside Saudi Arabia's consulate in Istanbul was a violation of worldwide law, U.S. After initially saying Khashoggi had left the consulate alive, the Saudi administration admitted weeks later he had died there.

"I don't understand this guys".

'It's like everything - when you're selecting a national team, there's a whole lot of good players that don't quite make it. We lost a few games but we played tough today and we won.

"Why has it got to be the most important game?" You're going to do it at some stage. Because you want to sack me?

However, the former Australia and Japan coach was concerned by yet another match where England conceded a raft of penalties, with lock Maro Itoje sin-binned in the first half.

"He's going for an examination now [Monday afternoon] and the news probably isn't going to be too good".

All Australia's Super Rugby teams all have reasonably regular visits from referees but that is rarer when it comes to Test teams.
