Megyn Kelly Today won’t return after anchor’s blackface comments

  • Megyn Kelly’s morning show is reportedly over because of her blackface comment. More

That will be sad news for a few of her former co-workers, with Geraldo Rivera having shown his support earlier in the day by tweeting: 'Since she's made an apparently heartfelt apology for grossly misguided remarks, how about showing some mercy to an otherwise good person?

On Wednesday, she opened her live show with a mea culpa.

Kelly's friend Eleanor McManus, a crisis manager who appeared on Kelly's show several times, argued that NBC's treatment of Kelly was retaliatory for her reporting on the #MeToo movement - particularly her attention to allegations against NBC and its stars. "Megyn Kelly was obviously not dropped by NBC because all the executives and hosts who work there are opposed to bigotry", he said. Kelly, meanwhile, is now negotiating her exit from NBC.

The network on Friday again aired a repeat of "Megyn Kelly Today" just as it did Thursday following this week's controversy. "I realize now that such behavior is indeed wrong, and I am sorry".

It's fairly obvious why NBC hyped its own controversy - they saw this as an easy way to get rid of Megyn Kelly. "I learned that given the history of blackface being used in very bad ways by racists in this country, it is not OK for that to be part of any costume, Halloween or otherwise", she said.

Sarri says Chelsea have 'tactical problem' after Loftus-Cheek stars
The England global completed his brace from a corner-kick as Loftus-Cheek sneaked in to steal the shot and it was 2-0 to Chelsea . Damn the tactics, mentality, work rate etc etc etc that I keep hearing - bottom line, the boy scores goals, we need goals.

Just three days ago, during a segment about Halloween costumes, Kelly questioned if blackface - makeup traditionally used by non-black performers to mock African Americans - was always problematic. She said she "defended the idea, saying as long as it was respectful and part of a Halloween costume, it seemed OK".

She offered a fuller apology to the nation at large, in which she said, through tears, that she did not mean to hurt anyone, let alone further divisions in the country.

Co-host Craig Melvin said, "She's a friend. She said something indefensible". "Back when I was a kid that was OK, as long as you were dressing up as, like, a character". The two explained that in the USA, there is a long history of blackface used to mock and belittle black people. Hope she comes back to Fox'.

Then on February 1, 2017, NBC made the abrupt announcement: Hall left the network the day before, on the day her contract was up.

Time magazine, which honoured "The Silence Breakers" as its Person of the Year, cited Kelly as its leader in the entertainment field.
