Trump accuses Saudi Arabia of lying on Khashoggis death

At the same time, Saudi officials have failed to answer questions about where Khashoggi's remains are and have offered inconsistent narratives for how he was killed, undermining the government's assertion that Khashoggi died after a fistfight broke out when he was confronted by agents seeking to bring him back to Riyadh while he was visiting the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul on October 2.

Saudi authorities announced that Jamal Khashoggi, a Washington Post columnist, died in the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul after a fistfight with officials there.

German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas said on Saturday that he saw "no basis for decisions in favour of arms exports to Saudi Arabia".

Erdogan said earlier on Sunday that he will make a statement and address the issues "in detail" on the Khashoggi case on Tuesday during his party's group meeting at Parliament.

Late on Sunday, the Saudi Press Agency said both Saudi King Salman and Prince Mohammed had called Khashoggi's son, Salah, to express condolences.

United States congressional leaders said the Gulf kingdom should face severe consequences for Khashoggi's murder.

But after a Turkish media report claiming Khashoggi's Apple Watch may have captured gruesome audio of him being tortured, drugged, killed and later dismembered, the Saudi government finally admitted the journalist was dead. "They came back to Saudi Arabia; they filed a report to that effect".

After accepting that US-based journalist Jamal Khashoggi died inside its consulate in Istanbul, Turkey, Saudi Arabia has now said that his killing was "a tremendous mistake" and a rogue operation.

Throughout my childhood, I witnessed many incidences of racism - whether they were directed at me, my sister, or my father. She also released a campaign video relating a story about a Native American on her mother's side.

According to the senior Saudi official, the Saudi team rolled up Khashoggi's body in a rug, took it out in a consular vehicle and handed it to a "local cooperator" for disposal.

Separately, SPA also reported that Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman made a telephone call to Salah Khashoggi, in which the Crown Prince expressed his condolences to Salah and his family on the death.

Saudi Arabia faced a growing chorus of incredulity on Sunday, with world powers demanding answers. "I don't think we need the Saudis".

Speaking late Saturday after a campaign rally in Nevada, he said he will be talking to Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman soon.

The crown prince has "now crossed a line and there has to be a punishment and a price paid for that", Corker said.

"First of all, their explanation is insultingly stupid", he told Fox News' Chris Wallace during an interview Sunday, flabbergasted by "the idea that this guy walked in the room with 15 security people, got in a fight and was accidentally killed and then they happened to have apparently an ability to dismember him and get rid of him that happened to be there".

However, a leading U.S. Senate Republican said the Saudi explanation, which followed initial denials from the kingdom that it knew anything about Khashoggi's fate, wasn't credible. "And I think we're inching our way there".
