Mourinho accepts apology from Chelsea assistant coach

The Portuguese was clearly provoked by the fist-pumping manner in which Chelsea second assistant coach Marco Ianni celebrated Ross Barkley's late equaliser directly in front of him as the Blues snatched a last-gasp 2-2 draw yesterday.

"And I have to say it's a different approach he's used historically when he's been manager of Chelsea". The players then replicated the scuffle with a heated debate in the centre circle before the match restarted for the final 20 seconds or so.

With the Chelsea fans taunting their former manager - 'F-- off Mourinho!' was the chant from the main stand - he responded by displaying three fingers to his tormentors, referencing the three Premier League titles he won as the club's manager.

Mourinho blamed police in Manchester for the team's arrival at Old Trafford only 45 minutes before a scheduled kickoff against Valencia on October 2.

"In his hard moments, he was saying the same all the time, "I want to play for you, I want to play for United, I'm going to make it and I'm going to be the player you want me to be".

"But given what we have seen so far, I can not see them doing so".

Defeat to Newcastle would nearly certainly have cost Mourinho his job, but Alexis' late goal now sets up a fascinating encounter against a Chelsea side that is currently second in the Premier League and level on 20 points with league leaders, Manchester City.

"Don't do what everyone does and say 'it's Mourinho who does things.' I don't know his name, I don't need to know".

Former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane had been linked with Jose Mourinho's position at Old Trafford after the Red Devils failed to win four games on the bounce.

"We were on the wrong side of this and this is why we apologise", stated Sarri. "We didn't sleep in the hotel, everyone stayed at his own house, and I think the players when they woke up - because they read on social media - the pre-match was not easy for them".

Jose Mourinho is no stranger to signing autographs, with the Manchester United manager having been a recognisable face in world football for almost 15 years.

"I think Chelsea will win 2-0", Keown told the Daily Mail. I think I would try to control myself and to respect the stadium and the supporters that were my supporters and stadium for many years.

"We defend mixed, so some of the players are in zone, some have individual opponents".

Chelsea's players have flourished under Sarri, none more so than the Premier League's top goalscorer Eden Hazard.

Ironically, in the build up to the match Mourinho had promised Chelsea fans he would be "restrained" in his reactions at Stamford Bridge.

He said: "At this type of football, United is better than us".
