UK PM reassures business leaders over Brexit

According to Hunt, "all but one or two issues" on Brexit have been settled in exit talks. Particularly since we will have already paid our £39bn financial settlement on leaving, says Boris Johnson, the pro-Brexit former foreign secretary, in the same paper.

Tusk also said the leaders expressed their resolve to stop the flow of illegal migration.

"Nothing new tonight", Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte said after an evening when not exacerbating divisions with Britain was seen as a victory in itself. The EU is expected to send a letter to these partners asking that existing trade arrangements continue intact until the end of the transition; in other words, that they continue to treat the United Kingdom as party to these agreements even though it will have formally left the EU. "Such a regime should help to protect our citizens, companies and institutions from all kinds of cyber security threats", he said.

"I think that Mrs May wants a deal".

Lending their names to the piece was Nick Clegg, whose tenure as Deputy-Prime Minister under Conservative centrist David Cameron has been credited with the implosion of his own Liberal Democrat party, and notorious Tory "wet" [British political slang for a left-wing Conservative] Michael Heseltine - a key player in the downfall of the Thatcher government in 1990.

The possibility of extending the transition period, set to end by December 2020, was also mooted at the Brussels summit.

On Thursday British Prime Minister Theresa May angered many of her Tory MPs, when she revealed one option that had emerged from talks in Brussels with the 27 European Union leaders, was an extension of the "implementation [or transition] period for a matter of months" - in an effort to break the deadlock over the Irish border issue.

There's significant reluctance from Brussels to drawing a hard border between Ireland and Northern Ireland.

At present the two sides are proposing that Britain remain inside the European Union single market and bound by its rules from the time it leaves the bloc in March until December 2020, to give time for new trade relations to be set up. While it could help May sell a deal at home, it won't remove the need to accept the most controversial part of the EU's proposal - that in a last-resort situation, Northern Ireland could be split off from the rest of the United Kingdom.

Yelich said if a play like that happened one time from Machado it might be considered an accident, but he sees it as a pattern. The shortstop later scored the winning run, sliding home to give Los Angeles a 2-1 win that evened the NLCS at two games each.

"As long as we don't have a solution we won't be able to explain exactly how it can succeed", she said Thursday.

"She accepted the dictates as to how the negotiations would take place and the sequencing of them by the European Union".

"But if these potential gains are sacrificed because of European Union bullying and the Government's desperation to secure a deal, the British people will not forgive us". In a recent speech, the newspaper reports that Scotland's first minister Nicola Sturgeon called for Scotland to be allowed to stay a member of the EU's single market, should Northern Ireland obtain a special deal.

The lack of progress means a special European Union summit on Brexit that had been penciled in for next month has been scrapped, though European Union leaders said they would assess the situation later.

He added: "Leo Varadkar has taken a sledgehammer to the work which was done but even more worrying is his total disregard to the impact of his irresponsible and reckless rhetoric on the peace of Northern Ireland".

A senior Democratic Unionist has branded Ireland's premier "vile" after accusing him of using terrorist victims to scaremonger over Brexit.

But Mrs May has not come forward with the new "concrete proposals" demanded by European Council president Donald Tusk, instead telling fellow leaders that "courage, trust and leadership" are needed on both sides to find a solution.

The idea of extending the transition would be to give more time to negotiate a deal on future relations and find a formula to defuse the Irish border question. Trade negotiations are complex: the more sectors they cover, the greater the number of stakeholders.
