There's no specified launch window, and that could force SpaceX to move liftoff to October 11th if it has to scrub the launch on the 7th.

Southland residents were treated to a spectacular sight Sunday night as SpaceX launched a satellite into space and landed the rocket back to Earth on Californian soil for the first time in the company's history.

- The launch clock remained set to 7:21 p.m. for SpaceX's launch of a satellite into orbit from Vandenberg Air Force Base, and planned landing of the rocket booster 100 miles west of Los Angeles.

Minutes after launch, the rocket's second stage separated from the first-stage booster and continued rising spaceward.

The youngster was aggressive right from the word go and made sure he latched on to the bad deliveries, which often came his way. Shaw got to the three-figure mark in the second session of the first day's play at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium.

Watch the moment the Falcon 9's booster landed right on the button on LZ-4. Between then and now, the company chalked up 10 more successful landings at the Air Force Station and another 18 on off-shore droneships.

"During the landing attempt, residents from Santa Barbara, Ventura and San Luis Obispo counties may hear one or more sonic booms", according to the advisory.

The rocket will carry the Argentinian SOACOM 1A radar mapping satellite. It has previously made such landings on drone ships in the ocean.

Known as plume interaction, the phenomena has been known to produce extraordinary visual effects and the launch of SAOCOM 1A was certainly no exception.

Argentina's National Commission on Space Activities, or CONAE, will operate the two SAOCOM satellites in cooperation with the Italian Space Agency's COSMO-SkyMed radar satellites. Prior landings have taken place on the East Coast.
