  • PlayStation Classic mini retro console is launching in time for Christmas

Nearly ten years after ceasing production, the first Sony console is making a return of sorts as the PlayStation Classic according to a post on the PlayStation Blog.

After the success of Nintendo's NES classic and SNES classic, we will be keeping an eye out for UAE release dates.

The PlayStation Classic features the old-school controller that came with the original system, and also comes with two controller and memory card slots. Five have already been revealed (Wild Arms, Ridge Racer Type 4, Tekken 3, Jumping Flash, and Final Fantasy VII) with more on the way ahead of its December 3 release.

The mini-console launches on December 3, 2018 and will retail for $99.99 in the United States, €99.99 in many European markets, and for 9980 Yen in Japan. Clearly Sony is trying to capitalise upon the nostalgic spirit that drives a lot of the gaming industry - and conveniently just in time for the holiday season.

It doesn't look like fans will be able to play their existing CD titles, though, as the "Open" button atop the console is apparently meant for "changing virtual CDs", and the Classic's diminutive dimensions preclude room for silver discs.

The other 15 spots on the PS1 Classic are bound to include some of our other favorites, such as Crash Team Racing, Spyro the Dragon, and Tomb Raider.

Kavanaugh's prep school pal: Ford's wrong, I was never at party
There is a hearing scheduled for Monday although Ford has asked the FBI to investigate Kavanaugh before she testifies. Almost 600 women who attended the school have written a letter of support for Ford , published on Tuesday.

Two controllers will be bundled with the retro console, which will be retailing for $99.99 in the United States, 99.99 euros in Europe, and 9,980 yen in Japan.

Production came to a halt shortly afterwards before the company re-introducing it in June this year preloaded with 30 games and a HDMI cable. No power adapter is included.

The PlayStation Classic works in the same way as the Nintendo Classic consoles.

Now You: What is your take on the PlayStation Classic? Here's a quick guide on how to pre-order one.
