Kremlin denies Putin involvement in poisoning of former spy Sergei Skripal

The men sat for an interview with the state-funded RT network one day after Russian President Vladimir Putin said his government had tracked down the men whom British authorities accuse of using a Novichok nerve agent to try to kill former KGB agent Sergei Skripal and his daughter, Yulia.

British police claim the names used by the men are aliases and there is evidence they are Russian military intelligence agents.

"Our friends had been suggesting for a long time we visit this wonderful town".

SALISBURY'S MP has blasted "absurd" claims that the two prime suspects in the nerve agent attack were visiting the city because they wanted to see the cathedral.

Britain said the attack was nearly certainly approved "at a senior level of the Russian state", an allegation that Moscow has vehemently denied.

In this file grab taken from CCTV and issued by the Metropolitan Police in London on September 5, 2018, Ruslan Boshirov and Alexander Petrov walk on Fisherton Road, Salisbury, England, March 4, 2018.

Russian Federation has repeatedly denied any involvement in the Salisbury attack.

Two Russian men's claims that they were innocent tourists wrongly accused of an attempted assassination in Britain raised eyebrows on Friday - even in Russia's usually patriotic media.

The U.S., France, Canada and Germany said they had "full confidence" in the U.K.'s assessment that the two suspects were Russian agents and that the operation "was with the greatest probability approved at high levels of the government".

They said they were entrepreneurs but did not want to divulge details that could hurt their business which they said was linked to sports nutritional supplements.

The weather was better the next day, when the two were caught on camera at the Salisbury rail station at 11.48am.

Third strawberry brand recalled amid new threats

The source said that after registering at the hotel City Stay Hotel in London Bashirov and Petrov could meet this doctor and another assistant, working at the Russian Embassy.

"They are civilians", Putin said late Wednesday, adding there was nothing criminal about them.

British authorities have charged Alexander Petrov and Ruslan Boshirov with conspiracy to murder Sergei and Yulia Skripal and Detective Sergeant Nick Bailey.

"I'll say it now - those two guys on Russian TV are murderers".

"Of course, we went there to see Stonehenge, Old Sarum, but we couldn't do it because there was muddy slush everywhere", Petrov explained."The town was covered by this slush".

The pair were asked whether they had been in the vicinity of the Skripals' house, which is where police claim the suspects sprayed the Novichok.

British investigators say the poison was transported in a fake Nina Ricci perfume bottle and sprayed onto the handle of Skripal's door.

The men raised eyebrows when they said they had been to the cathedral city twice in two days because heavy snow forced them to turn back on their first visit.

Mr Boshirov said: "The customs are checking everything, they would have questions as to why men have women's perfume in their luggage".

She said: "As a journalist and having worked as a reporter for over 20 years, I only believe what I see with my own eyes, and what I saw was that they look completely like the people in the video which was released by the British police".
