  • SpaceX is hoping to follow the success of its Falcon 9 rocket with a new generation Super Falcon Rocket

Elon Musk's rocket company SpaceX has enrolled its first passenger for a trip around the moon.

As per a tweet on Thursday, the company has signed its first private passenger to fly on its BFR launch vehicle, in what would be "an important step toward enabling access for everyday people who dream of traveling to space". SpaceX will be revealing the space tourist's identity in a press conference on September 17. Asked whether he'd be the first passenger, Musk - who's also the CEO of Tesla - posted an emoji of a Japanese flag.

That plan called for them to ride on a Dragon crew vehicle, similar to the cargo ships that SpaceX routinely sends loaded with supplies to the International Space Station.

Earlier this year, Musk said the company would be able to focus its investment on the BFR, following the successful launch of the Falcon Heavy. We plan to do that, probably in the fourth quarter of next year (2018). SpaceX was tight-lipped about the financial terms of the deal and the identity of the individuals.

Numbers Still Favor Kavanaugh's Confirmation to Supreme Court
Judicial Crisis Network (JCN), a group backing Kavanaugh's nomination, blamed Democrats for not speaking up about the harassment. A photo of Kavanaugh appearing to refuse to shake Fred Guttenberg's outstretched hand last week went viral.

Musk responded to questions from Twitter users following the announcement, saying that the rocket is still in development and has been "intentionally" created to resemble one seen in a classic comic book series, "The Adventures of Tintin".

The rocket in combination with a spaceship capsule is being built by SpaceX with the colonization of the planet Mars in mind.

At the time, Musk said the pair approached SpaceX about sending them on a weeklong flight and paid a "significant" deposit for the trip.

However, it was not clear whether the BFR tourism mission has any link to an announcement SpaceX made in February 2017, the CNN reported. These include performing satellite launches, cleaning up space junk, and of course, taking the rich and space curious on trips around the moon.
