  • Marcus Mariota injures elbow in Titans' loss to Miami Dolphins

The Titans were without Marcus Mariota after he suffered an elbow injury in the third quarter against the Dolphins.

It seemed to have done the trick: Miami won 27-20.

Three-time Pro Bowl tight end Delanie Walker will have surgery on his right ankle in the next few days, and Tennessee coach Mike Vrabel said the Titans will decide if the veteran might be able to return later this season. The second weather delay lasted more than two hours.

The injury took place with just under four minutes to left in the fourth quarter.

Tennessee's top two draft picks also are linebackers, and Rashaan Evans and Harold Landry both missed the opener with injuries. The pass was tipped and caught by the Dolphins' Kiko Alonso.

Fales, a backup for the Dolphins last season, and Luke Falk, a rookie who the Dolphins invited for pre-draft workouts earlier this year, were inactive for Sunday's game.

However, the Dolphins came up with a goal-line stand.

That saga ended with a Friday night announcement in late August, in which Musk said Tesla would remain a publicly traded company. In an Instagram post from the August weekend spent at Musk's residence, Banks claimed the Tesla CEO had taken LSD.

Stills iced the Dolphins' win when he torched Titans cornerback Malcolm Butler for a 75-yard touchdown from Tannehill with 10:22 remaining, giving Miami a 24-10 advantage. Kenny Stills capped off the 5:21 drive with a 10-yard touchdown grab from Tannehill in the front right corner of the end zone.

The Dolphins play at the New York Jets next Sunday.

Mariota threw interceptions on back-to-back pass attempts and was removed again. During the run-back, defensive end Andre Branch made a crack-back block on Lewan, flooring him and setting off a brief skirmish between the teams.

In 2017, Hurricane Irma postponed their Week 1 contest, forcing them to play 16 consecutive games without a bye week.

The Titans struggles in the loss to Miami is hard to take.

The Titans attempted to mount a comeback with a 94-yard touchdown return from Darius Jennings on the ensuing kickoff. On a first-and-10 play for the Titans, Blaine Gabbert hit Walker on a crossing route that went for a 15-yard gain.
