  • A boat collision near Moabi Regional Park on Saturday evening resulted in 13 injuries and two missing people authorities said

Authorities are continuing to conduct an extensive search for 1-2 people who are missing following a boating accident on the Colorado River Saturday evening.

Lewis was among more than a dozen people ejected from the boats in the crash Saturday night.

Officials said two recreational boats, one carrying 10 people and one with six, collided around 8 p.m. Saturday near Moabi Regional Park.

The Tulare County Sheriff's Office confirmed Monday that a woman who died when two boats crashed on the Colorado River was Chrisi Lewis, the step-daughter of former Sheriff Bill Wittman.

A "critically injured" woman was flown to a hospital in Las Vegas, Mortensen said.

He says two people are missing and "presumed submerged".

The victim was as identified as Christi Lewis, 51, from California, the Mohave County Sheriff's Office of Arizona said in a Facebook post.

The crash occurred between two popular marinas and near California's Moabi Regional Park.

FOCAC Beijing Summit: What to expect
China defends continued lending to Africa on the grounds that the continent still needs debt-funded infrastructure development. Over the past five years, there were more than 100 activities on cultural exchanges and 200 cultural cooperation projects.

All 16 passengers, 10 on one boat and six on the other, were either thrown or jumped into the rushing river, which was crowded with holiday weekend boaters, with 12 being accounted for following rescue missions.

The force of the crash caused one of the boats to sink and the other sustained heavy damage. Divers have been sent into the river, which can run as deep as 30 feet (9 meters).

No one on the boats was wearing a life vest, Schuster said.

Search crews resumed Sunday morning.

Colorado River boat crash missing victims feared dead after first victim body found. "These efforts will continue until all of those missing and unaccounted for have been located".

Rescuers had to call off the search for the missing until Sunday morning because it was too unsafe for divers to swim in the river after dark.

As of this writing, a portion of the river near Lake Havasu remains closed for a third day as officials still search for Heitzig.
