Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago Files Request To Hire Foreign Workers - Again

09 July, 2018, 06:35 | Author: Ted Wilson
  • Trump’s Mar-a Lago Club in Florida seeks to hire 61 foreign workers as seasonal cooks and waiters

The Trump Foundation made large donations to a number of organizations, around the same time those charities moved their annual large events to the president's posh Florida golf club, according to the Palm Beach Post.

Mar-a-Lago seeks to hire the 40 foreign waiters and waitresses under the H-2B visa program, which allows American employers to hire foreigners on a seasonal basis if there is not a sufficient supply of qualified Americans. Supporters say the program is necessary to keep American businesses afloat and allows seasonal businesses to operate at a greater capacity. The ads were posted a week after the president's resort asked the Labor Department for permission to hire 70 foreign workers, which was granted last November.

H-2B visas, however, can only be obtained if there are no American workers available, which the President has insisted otherwise throughout his campaign and presidency.

For all his tough talk on immigration from his election campaign to the ongoing migrant crisis brought about by his draconian policies, it seems rather freakish Trump wants foreign workers over US residents for his beloved resort.

These workers will be taken onboard from October until May and the wages have been set at $12.68 per hour for the servers and $13.31 for the cooks, reported Buzzfeed News.

The case was ultimately dismissed, but according to the Capital Gazette , Ramos continued to express outrage at the paper on social media.

A review of the Trump Foundation's tax records back to 2008 revealed that almost all of the $706,000 in donations the organization made went to charities that hosted large events at Trump's exclusive south Florida golf resort, according to an analysis by The Palm Beach Post.

Other Trump businesses have hired foreign workers for temporary jobs.

The Trump Organization hired at least 1,260 foreign workers from 2001 to 2016, according to a CNN analysis. That same week, however, "Mar-a-Lago was applying for foreign worker visas". The Trump Winery in Charlottesville, Va., is looking for 23 H-2B visas.

In April 2017, Trump signed the "Buy American and Hire American Executive Order", which sought to boost job opportunities for USA workers by "rigorously enforcing and administering our immigration laws".
