  • US Lawmakers in Moscow Set Stage for Trump-Putin Summit

On Thursday, the Kremlin and the White House announced that Putin and Trump would hold a full-fledged summit in Finland's capital Helsinki on July 16.

As exemplified by the summit with Kim Jong Un in Singapore last month, Trump has an affinity toward face-to-face meetings with world leaders.

"It absolutely suits us".

Asked about whether the visiting USA lawmakers would meet Putin, Peskov said: "For now, it is not on the president's schedule, but we know that the American officials have planned quite wide-reaching contacts with their colleagues".

Will Trump try to impress Putin?

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will meet Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow next week, Netanyahu's office said in a brief statement.

Russian Federation stun Spain on penalties to reach World Cup quarter-finals
Spain dominated the match in terms of possession and territorial domination but posed very little threat to the host nation. Spain were knocked out of at the round of 16 stage following Sunday's penalty shootout loss to Russian Federation .

Yet Trump's push for a quick summit with Putin has equally alarmed traditional USA allies, with whom Trump has clashed over issues such as funding for North Atlantic Treaty Organisation, and the Iran nuclear deal, among other issues.

Trump has been searching for improved rapport with Russian Federation since his election to the presidency in January 2017. It also says Trump believes there is a chance to ease the acrimony in relations with Moscow in a way that could further global peace.

The Trump administration, unlike the administration of former president Barack Obama, has begun providing the Ukrainian Army with lethal weapons. That's likely to include brief sessions with Bolton and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, along with other national security officials.

"The President makes the policy".

"We do not recognize Russia's attempt to annex Crimea". Putin is known as a shrewd negotiator who some officials worry could exploit such a session and extract concessions from Trump.

Such concessions are why a one-on-one encounter between Trump and Putin is a wild card.
