The White House will permit Annapolis mayor Gavin Buckley to lower US flags to half-staff in remembrance of the mass shooting at The Capital last week after Buckley said it denied his initial request.

The Mayor of Annapolis Gavin Buckley had made the request over the weekend, but was surprised to find his personal appeal rejected come Monday.

"Our Nation shares the sorrow of those affected by the shooting at the Capital Gazette newspaper in Annapolis, Maryland", Trump said in the proclamation.

As The Capital Gazette reports, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee-Sanders called Buckley Tuesday morning to inform him of Trump's decision. "He sees these murders as an attack on the freedom of the Press as guaranteed by the First Amendment of the United States Constitution".

The 26-year-old requested that the Spurs trade him, with Leonard open to joining the Lakers or Clippers. James and George would be an ideal match for each other if they were to sign with the same team.

Annapolis mayor says Trump declined request to lower flags to half-staff to honour five killed in Thursday's shooting. "Americans across the country are united in calling upon God to be with the victims and bring aid and comfort to their families and friends". "It's just as important as any other tragedy".

"At this point in time, it would start to polarize people and I don't want to make people angry."

"It's not as noticeable when a state flag is down but you still have your main flags at full mast", Buckley told the Baltimore Sun after the making the request, adding he thought the tragedy merited national attention. President Trump "asked that we reach out and verify that the mayor had made the request", she said. He said he had considered lowering the flags himself, but the Democratic congressman and his wife talked him out of it, saying protocol should be followed. The case was ultimately dismissed, but according to the Capital Gazette, Ramos continued to express outrage at the paper on social media.
