Lakers Sign Rondo, Lose Randle In Flurry Of Free Agency Moves

  • Point guard Rajon Rondo

The Lakers reached a one-year, $9 million deal with the 32-year-old point guard. He spent 2017-2018 with the New Orleans Pelicans and averaged 8.3 points and 8.2 assists per game during the regular season.

Julius Randle, Isaiah Thomas, and several others are out. He'll join new Laker additions James, JaVale McGee and Lance Stephenson. ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski was the first to report the news.

A Randle-Davis pairing will work similar to the Cousins-Davis pairing last season.

Randle played in all 82 of L.A.'s games past year. The Lakers also included Timofey Mozgov in that deal, receiving Brook Lopez and the draft pick that became Kyle Kuzma in return.

Rondo, 32, was a member of the Celtics team that won the National Basketball Association championship in 2007-08, beating the Lakers in six games in the Finals. Randle is more of a ball-handler and off-the-dribble threat.

Uruguay defeated Russian Federation to win group A
Edinson Cavani later added a third goal for his country with a poacher's finish from Diego Godin's header at a corner. World Cup debutant Igor Smolnikov's red card in the 36th minute was the knockout blow for Russian Federation .

Lakers are searching potential free agents this summer with San Antonio Spurs man Kawhi Leonard a rumoured key target. He also has played for the Boston Celtics, Dallas Mavericks, Sacramento Kings and Chicago Bulls.

The Laker experiment this season is going to be fascinating to watch. They also could waive him and stretch his contract in order to lessen their salary cap burden. The next big question revolves around free agent DeMarcus Cousins.

Randle was drafted No. 7 overall in the 2014 NBA Draft by the Lakers and has played every season of his professional career in Hollywood.

With Randle's departure, the Lakers will have no players left on their roster who played with Kobe Bryant in his final game in 2016.
