A seven-year patent infringement battle over Samsung's copying of several major iPhone features is finally over, the judge in the case has confirmed.
Terms of the settlement, filed in the US District Court for the Northern District of California, were not available.
The Court filing also states that the "remaining claims and counterclaims in this action are hereby dismissed with prejudice", and another case can not be filed on the same claim. Apple and Samsung didn't immediately respond to requests for comment.
How much Samsung agreed to pay Apple hasn't been disclosed.
Neither Samsung nor Apple revealed what the terms of the settlement were. When the verdict was first announced in 2012, Samsung had faced a huge $1.05 billion fine from the jury, which had ruled in Apple's favour in the patent claim case. Back in May, Samsung was ordered by the jury to pay Apple $538m in damages. "This case has always been about more than money".
Novak Djokovic eases into Queen's Club semi-finals
Mannarino resisted a handful of break points in the eighth game, but was finally bowed, and then Djokovic broke again. I have plenty of time to make couple more wins. "Hopefully, " said Cilic of a potential double grass-court triumph.
"We believe deeply in the value of design", Apple said recently, "and our teams work tirelessly to create innovative products that delight our customers".
The whole thing started when Samsung released some Galaxy phones in 2010-11 that looked a lot like the iPhone.
Apple ignited the smartphone revolution with iPhone and it is a fact that Samsung blatantly copied our design.
In 2012, a USA jury awarded California-based Apple $1.05bn in damages for the copied features, which included design elements like the screen that displays icons in a grid. While Apple scored a major public relations victory with an initial $1 billion verdict in 2012, Samsung also obtained rulings in its favour and avoided an injunction that would have blocked it from selling phones in the U.S. market, Risch said. The dispute costed both companies billions of Ringgit in litigation costs and penalties over the years, but it also changed the way patent laws worked in the US.
