'Relief for N Korea only after clear steps to denuclearisation'

Defense Secretary James Mattis warned it will be a "bumpy road" on the way to a summit between President Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un later this month and urged South Korea and Japan to keep up the pressure on the rogue regime, according to a report on Sunday.

Kim Jong Un has reportedly fired North Korea's top three military generals in what appears to be an attempt to quash dissent ahead of a summit with Donald Trump.

It quoted Mr Assad as saying on Wednesday: "I am going to visit [North Korea] and meet Kim Jong-un".

Both countries have faced global isolation, North Korea over its nuclear weapons program, and Syria over its tactics during a bloody civil war.

Japanese Minister of Defense Itsunori Onodera told reporters after the meeting with Mattis and South Korean Minister of National Defense Song Young-moo that the nations agreed "it is very important for North Korea to take concrete actions in a ideal and irreversible way".

South Korea's Blue House on Monday quashed suggestions a formal end to the Korean War could be announced at the Trump-Kim summit.

Last Friday, Trump put the planned summit with Kim back on track after he canceled it on May 24, citing "open hostility" from the communist regime.

Pyongyang's armed forces, known as the Korean People's Army, are immensely influential in the North and a centre of power in their own right, symbolised by the way Kim is habitually flanked by generals on one side and civilians on the other when attending major ceremonial events.

"Against Iceland we will have to take advantage of the domain, we need a high level of force in the World Cup ". Messi, 30, left Newell's at age 13 and thus did not appear in a senior match for the club.

There was no official confirmation from Assad's office.

"It looks like they needed someone who can have a firm grip on the military and dynamically push ahead with the new policies amid changes in US-North Korea relations", he added. North Korea's leadership is believed to regard nuclear weapons as crucial to its survival.

Defence minister Pak Yong Sik has been suceeded by former first vice minster No Kwang Chol.

All the newly promoted officials are younger than their predecessors, including 63-year-old Ri Yong-gil, who is 21 years younger than Ri Myong-su, Reuters reported.

Pyongyang has long argued that it needs nuclear weapons to protect itself against a possible invasion by the US.

That official said US negotiators' efforts to press for definitions of immediate, comprehensive, verifiable and irreversible denuclearisation by North Korea had run into opposition from the White House.

Should real progress be made, South Korean President Moon Jae-in's plan involves the development of three economic belts that would link his country's industrial heartland with the North and then with China and Russian Federation.

"Take your time", Trump told Kim Yong Chol, a top aide to Kim.
