Microsoft is said to be in serious talks about a possible acquisition of GitHub, the largest source-code repository in the world.
According to a report in Business Insider-which, admittedly, has a sketchy reputation-Microsoft recently held talks to acquire GitHub, which was most recently valued at about $2 billion.
Two days ago we reported on a rumour that Microsoft was in talks to purchase Github, but that Microsoft was reportedly baulking at Github's $5 billion asking price.
Frank Shaw, a spokesman for Microsoft, declined to comment. While details of the deal are now unknown, it is believed that the official announcement could come later today.

It's worth noting that Microsoft's journey started with creating software development tools and the company is known to lure developers from time-to-time to boost its software business. Within three quarters of 2016, GitHub lost over $66 million. Github gave smaller, growing companies a way to implement some of the best practices in place at tech conglomerates while finding and contributing to the open-source projects that changed the way software was developed.
In August, GitHub announced that it was looking for a CEO to replace Chris Wanstrath, one of the company's co-founders. If Microsoft has shown anything over the last few years since CEO Satya Nadella took control, it's shown a commitment to meeting developers where they are, rather than forcing them onto Microsoft owned-and-controlled technologies.
