  • Gowdy FBI acted properly with use of informant during 2016 campaign

President Donald Trump on Wednesday said that he wished he had picked someone other than Jeff Sessions as attorney general, his latest slight of the former senator who recused himself from the investigation into Russian election interference.

President Trump has no plans to fire Attorney General Jeff Sessions before the Russian Federation probe is completed, the president's lawyer said Wednesday.

Trump has publicly criticized the attorney general over his recusal, calling it a "terrible mistake for the country" in April.

Gowdy told "CBS This Morning" on Wednesday that "there are lots of really good lawyers in the country. And I wish I did!", Trump wrote in his third tweet.

"I don't know", he said.

But when Gowdy rebuked Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), the ranking Democrat on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, for doing a "disservice" to the nation by portraying Trump himself as a main "target" of Russian collusion allegations, the same media figures ignored or buried the comment.

"I would have considered it", Giuliani told the Huffington Post.

Gowdy and House intelligence committee chairman Devin Nunes, R-Calif., received a secret briefing last week about the FBI's use of the confidential human source. But he noted that the current top officials at the agencies, including FBI Director Chris Wray and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, "now are all Trump appointees".

May 30, 2018 - Trump again expresses regret for choosing Sessions to lead the Justice Department.

His confrontation with Sessions is reportedly being examined as part of Mueller's inquiry into possible obstruction of justice on the part of the president.

According to the report, the date, however, is conditional as it comes with the clause from Mueller, which states, "if he is able to interview Trump by mid-July". I don't think he would ever flip on Donald Trump.

The former mayor of New York City urged that the investigation should end soon so that it doesn't affect Republican chances in November's midterm elections. "I would think you would want the Federal Bureau of Investigation to find out whether there was any validity to what those people were saying", the chairman said. What he inherited from the FBI under Comey was a counterintelligence investigation, focused on the work of Russia's spy services and their outreach to Americans.

"They likely would not be so specific as to outline the things they are seeing, because they don't want to blow their investigation", Campbell said.

Gowdy said he understood Trump's frustration about public rhetoric on the Russian Federation investigation by Democrats and intelligence officials, like former FBI Director James Comey and former CIA Director John Brennan. The South Carolina congressman responded by distancing himself from Trump. The men's meeting on the matter in March 2017 hadn't been previously reported.
