  • Trump says he’s giving full pardon to Dinesh D’Souza

D'Souza reacted to the news by retweeting Trump's tweet saying his was treated "very unfairly" and by advertising his new movie. He was indicted earlier that year on charges that he illegally used straw donors to contribute to Republican Senate candidate Wendy Long in NY in 2012.

D'Souza, who made the documentary "2016: Obama's America", entered the plea a week after the federal judge overseeing his case rejected his claim that he was selectively prosecuted.

"Trump's Dinesh D'Souza pardon today, on top of his pardons of Scooter Libby and Joe Arpaio, make sense only as an elephant-whistle to Michael Cohen & all who know damning things about Trump: protect me & I'll have your back".

The President told reporters that Blagojevich had said something "stupid" but that it was similar to what other politicians have said and called the 18-year sentence "really unfair".

President Donald Trump announced on Thursday that he will issue a full pardon to conservative activist Dinesh D'Souza. "This is disturbing news, not only because it would undermine public confidence in the rule of law, but also because-due to a little-known feature of NY law that appears to be unique in its reach-a strategically-timed pardon could prevent individuals who may have violated our State's laws from standing trial in our courts as well".

Canada govt steps in to buy controversial pipeline
The Trans Mountain expansion would nearly triple capacity to 890,000 barrels of oil on a line running from Alberta to a terminal near Vancouver.

In 2014, he was convicted of making an illegal campaign contribution of $20,000 to a politician based in NY.

Author of several New York Times best selling books, the Indian-American has stirred controversy on social media for his offensive comments directed towards former President Barack Obama.

His cause was taken up by some on the political right as an example of anti-conservative bias during the Obama administration.

D'Souza allegedly coordinated donations to Long's campaign through friends and acquaintances. D'Souza said as much as recently as 2017. Eight months of the first year was to be served in a community confinement center. Moreover, Mr. Obama's 2008 presidential campaign was itself fined $375,000 in 2013 for failing to disclose millions of dollars in contributions and missing deadlines for refunding millions in excess contributions.

Closing the loophole would prevent individuals who broke the law in NY from avoiding accountability.
