Asteroids the size of 2010 WC9 collide with our planet once every 6,000 years according to astronomers, and now, there are no known asteroids known to be on a collision course with the earth. The jumbo jet-sized space rock is set to skim by Earth on Tuesday night.

Asteroids larger than 0.6 miles in length would be likely contenders, according to NASA. While this doesn't happen often, this should pose no danger to us on earth. It began sharing footage Monday to allow viewers to observe the asteroid in space before it whizzes past Earth.

However, 8 years later, on May 8, astronomers discovered the asteroid and determined it as the loss of WC9 in 2010. They lost it in 20 days and were neither able to determine the asteroid's complete orbit nor predict when it might make a comeback.

The Asteroid steps from 60 to 130 meters, also moves at a rate of over 28,000 miles per hour, WeekFacts.com reported on Saturday.

2010 WC9 will come within 203,453 kilometres of Earth, states EarthSky, or about half the distance to the moon, making this one of the closest passes ever made by an asteroid of this size.

Nintendo is releasing its retro NES Classic on June 29
The announcement follows a September 2017 report that Nintendo had confirmed it was restarting production of the NES Classic . You don't need to worry about finding space to store all 30 of the games either: They're installed directly on the console.

Scientists are paying close attention to a fairly large asteroid that will soon pass through the earth. The space rock was only recently rediscovered. The Catalina Sky Survey in Arizona first detected it on November 30, 2010.

The diameter range of 2010 WC9 is estimated to be between 197 and 427 feet, while the size of the Chelyabinsk meteor is around 65 feet.

Guy Wells, from London's Northolt Branch observatory, said: 'The broadcast will last less than 25 minutes, since the asteroid will cross our field of view during this time period. The asteroid will move pretty fast (30 seconds of arc per minute).

Almost eight years after astronomers lost track of the estimated 120m-long space rock, Asteroid WC9 is ready to come back in spectacular fashion. However, Northolt Branch Observatories in England will broadcast live from their telescope the day before the "lost" asteroid's approach, the nonprofit organization announced on Facebook.
