  • Mother denies abuse after her 10 children are taken into protective custody

Ten children were removed from homes in Northern California, they were tortured and held in appalling conditions, according to the Sheriff's office Solano County.

Sharon Henry, chief deputy district attorney for Solano County, said there is a "good chance" Rogers would also face "additional charges".

According to the Fairfield police, the house was in a awful condition with human and animal feces, urine, garbage and rotten food scattered across the floor. In some areas, debris was piled to the point of making it unable to pass through.

Following the sentence in the Turpin case, California authorities have identified yet another example of child torture.

A man pleaded not guilty Monday to charges of child abuse and torture after he was arrested Friday following an investigation that began in late March, Solano County prosecutors and Fairfield police said.

"It's a pretty big house", he said.

So far the authorities have discovered the children were home-schooled but it is still unclear what the couple did for a living.

Aleida Quartman, 23, who said she works with Rogers, said she spoiled her children and the messy house was just life with children, cats, a dog and fish.

One of the rescued kids reportedly said that they endured puncture wounds, burns, bruising and injuries consistent with being shot with a BB or airsoft gun.

Officers found the youngster a short time later "asleep under a bush in a yard of a nearby residence", according to Hurlbut.

Once there, the officers conducted a search "due to concerns for the safety and health of the child and the child's siblings", police said.

Officers said the children were living in squalor and unsafe conditions.

'I was afraid that I could not find him. "But I don't know how you can keep it quiet when you have 10 kids".

Rogers, who was arrested March 31 and released after posting $10,000 bail, was booked for child neglect.

The children were taken into protective custody by Solano County Child Welfare services and then placed in the care of other family members.

Rogers stated the youngsters slept in a single bed room as a result of they have been shut; cots have been saved in a bed room closet. The investigation revealed a long and continuous history of severe physical and emotional abuse of the children.

Rogers, in an interview with an area TV station, denied the allegations against her and said she would never allow in her home the kind of abuse law enforcement claims took place.

The children were between the ages of four months and 12 years old, and were all homeschooled. "And so I've had many people question my right to parent, and I just feel like this whole situation was exploded", Rogers said, according to ABC News.

On May 11, detectives with the Fairfield Police Department arrested Jonathan Allen, a 29-year-old Fairfield resident. He was booked in the Solano County Jail on nine counts of felony torture and six counts of felony child abuse.

Rogers, an EKG technician, explained that she has 11 biological children-three of which she had before she met Allen and the other eight she had within in the past 10 years.
