  • UFC 224 Results: Lyoto Machida Lands Front Kick KO and Sends Off Vitor Belfort

Machida delivered a rear kick to Belfort's face and did not continue with punches after seeing his opponent was out, ESPN reported.

Machida needed less than two full rounds to finish his fellow countrymen with a nasty head-kick that put an end to Belfort's night, closing the final chapter of a UFC career that's had more than its share of unexpected ups and downs.

At UFC 224 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on Saturday, Vitor Belfort expected to head off into retirement.

Belfort was out immediately, and Machida was all class in the aftermath.

Randy Couture was the first man Machida kicked out of active competition when Machida landed a vicious crane kick to the UFC Hall of Famer at UFC 129.

The 41-year-old Brazilian legend then took off his gloves and placed them in the Octagon, signaling that he was retiring. This was a quick fight with just a few sets of blows in the first round and a quick unbelievable KO by Lyoto Machida in the second round. I would like this fight because Michael Bisping is a former champion, and this is a fight that could happen in the future.

Bisping is also contemplating retirement at the moment.

Bisping has also said he doesn't ever plan on making the 185-pound weight limit ever again, as the weight cut is strenuous.

"And the fans want to see this fight".

"Life is about beginning, middle, and end, and I think I come to the end, so congratulations to Machida and I'm leaving my gloves here", Belfort once he had regained his senses following the fight.

Belfort fought the likes of Couture, Silva, Wanderlei Silva, Chuck Liddell, Tito Ortiz and Jon Jones during his career. I would like to fight Michael Bisping.

"And I think it's time for me to take care of my family and my endeavours".

"I always use my legs to retire people". Let us know your thoughts on the matter in the comments section below!
