The state of New Jersey had been fighting for eight years to make sports wagering legal at racetracks and casinos in the state, but had repeatedly been blocked by the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act of 1992.

"There's bills also in West Virginia and I believe in the NY state legislature right now that can be passed very quickly because they've drafted those potential laws waiting for the ruling so the process is there", said Conrad. There are already ample preparations being made for the Supreme Court ruling that could overrule PASPA as unconstitutional. It also handed down decisions on two other important cases, dealing with personal rights.

Like its lawmakers, New Jersey casinos are making moves. The man said he did not consent to a search, but police argued that his consent didn't matter because his name was not ono the rental agreement.

Monday, the Supreme Court agreed. The nine-member court voted 7-2 to repeal PASPA, the federal ban which prohibited single-game wagering outside Nevada.

The ban was known as the Bradley Act, after its chief promoter, former basketball great Bill Bradley, who served three terms in the U.S. Senate.

Sports books previously had only been allowed in Nevada, Oregon, Delaware and Montana, according to SB Nation.

In an NPR interview, Bradley said his motivation was simple, and personal. "It turns players into roulette chips". Slot machines and table games, for example, pay out over the long term at a mathematically consistent rate. The Supreme Court declined to hear the case. Could legislators and sports betting agencies be jumping the gun now?

Will Meet North Korea's Kim on June 12 in Singapore, Says Trump
Now a string of US-led sanctions are imposed on North Korea in a bid to hinder its efforts at developing nuclear weapons . Tony Kim, Kim Hak Song and Kim Dong Chul are three relieved and happy campers today.

But the status quo struck down by the Supreme Court looks nearly quaint in light of increased pressure to legalize sports betting across the board.

Here's the current rundown of gambling legality by state. New Jersey saw the case as a states' right issue and argued that the 1992 law is unconstitutional because it violates the so called "anti commandeering" principle of the 10th Amendment that bars Congress from ordering states to participate in a federal regulatory scheme.

After oral arguments in December, then-Gov.

"Our mission has always been to bring fans closer to the sports they love and now, thanks to the wisdom of the Supreme Court, DraftKings will be able to harness our proven technology to provide our customers with innovative online sports betting products", DraftKings CEO Jason Robins said in a statement. "We're like boy scouts; we're prepared".

Tony Rodio, president of Tropicana Entertainment, said his Atlantic City casino will "absolutely" offer sports betting once it can get it up and running.

"Just as Congress lacks the power to order a state legislature not to enact a law authorizing sports gambling, it may not order a state legislature to refrain from enacting a law licensing sports gambling", Justice Sam Alito, writing for the majority, said in his 31-page opinion.
