Father Patrick Conroy has rescinded his resignation as House Chaplain.

"I have accepted Father Conroy's letter and decided that he will remain in his position as Chaplain of the House", Ryan said in a statement. "A number of our members were not being adequately served or offered services, so I made a decision on behalf of the House, on behalf of making sure we could have adequate pastoral services".

Finally, as noted, it has been suggested that Ryan's decision to force Conroy out came in the wake of complaints by fellow Republicans, most of whom are not Catholic, that the House Chaplin was Catholic to begin with.

Ryan, already battling political and public relatons issues all his own, abruptly changed direction, releasing a statement retracting his demand for Rev. Conroy's resignation.

"It is my job as speaker to do what is best for this body, and I know that this body is not well served by a protracted fight over such an important position", Ryan said.

Ryan, who is also a Catholic, forced Conroy to submit his resignation last week, but his lack of explanation for the move prompted a firestorm of lawmakers, many of whom praised Conroy work in the House.

Conroy mentioned top Ryan aide Jonathan Burks advised me the speaker needed his own resignation, and cited a prayer past year that was potentially vital of their GOP tax bill that angry many Republicans.

Conroy told The New York Times last week that shortly afterward Ryan warned Conroy to "stay out of politics".

Ryan added he meant to sit with Conroy "so that we're able to move forward for the good of the whole House".

Ryan's statement came soon after Conroy delivered a two-page letter that said he has never "heard a complaint about my ministry" as House chaplain.

Que es Cinco de Mayo?
The Denver Police Department will also be keeping a watch on Cinco de Mayo "cruising" along Federal Boulevard. At the end of the day, nearly 500 French soldiers were killed while Mexican forces lost less than 100 men.

While the decision to ask for Conroy's resignation was Ryan's, a senior House GOP aide and a senior aide to House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi said she was consulted throughout the personnel decision.

In the prayer, the chaplain urged lawmakers to "guarantee that there are not winners and losers under new tax laws, but benefits balanced and shared by all Americans".

The priest is the second Catholic in history to hold the House chaplain's spot.

A senior GOP management aide maintained that "there was not a particular prayer" that led to Ryan's choice to request Conroy's resignation. "My problem is I was never told that that was the case".

Conroy, a Jesuit priest, has been chaplain for the previous 11 years.

In response to the correspondence, Ryan introduced that Conroy could continue to keep his job, afterall.

Complaining that Mr. Ryan never spoke to him in person, he also raised his Catholicism.

Though Conroy's letter was quite biting, he added a note of conciliation in an interview with The New York Times.

Ryan received significant resistance from both parties over the move, including a letter from 148 House members. That puts the ball squarely in the court of Speaker Ryan. "However, many distressing questions must still be answered about the motivations behind Father Conroy's unwarranted and unjust dismissal".
