Macron Warns of War if Trump Dumps Iran Deal

  • Trump just manufactured a national security crisis for no reason

Netanyahu did not accuse Iran of violating the deal.

He said he thought it was a bad deal. Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis has accurately described the inspections and other provisions created to limit cheating as "pretty robust".

Under the pact, sanctions were eased in return for a commitment not to pursue a nuclear bomb, but Iran says it is not reaping the rewards despite complying with the deal. A two-part plan can help him do that - acting in part with the Europeans and in part on his own. Iran repeatedly denied that was the case, and has further asserted that it has every right to its ballistic missile program for defense. The president believes the terms of the agreement are too lenient.

Though he opposed the deal in 2015, when it was signed into law by President Obama, he said now is not the time to walk away from the agreement. This is where Trump's unilateral power can come into play.

The UK's ambassador to the United States, Sir Kim Darroch, said the Iran agreement was "a good deal" but efforts were ongoing to "find some language, produce some action that meets the president's concerns".

Thornberry suggested that Iran could kick out inspectors if the deal is scrapped, "so that we lose what visibility we have there".

Stormy Daniels to Alec Baldwin's Trump on "SNL": "Storm's a coming, baby"
Cohen's payment was made days before the November 2016 U.S. presidential election , potentially violating campaign financing laws. His remarks have also put Daniels and her lawyer, Michael Avenatti , back in the spotlight. "So I don't - I don't know".

"The UK, U.S., and European partners are also united in our effort to tackle the kind of Iranian behavior that makes the Middle East region less secure - its cyber activities, its support for groups like Hezbollah, and its risky missile program, which is arming Houthi militias in Yemen", Johnson said ahead of his visit.

Zarif noted that Iran will have different options after the U.S. administration announces its decision on May 12, adding that leaving the JCPIA will remain to be one of Iran options. He also said rising tensions between Iran and Israel would make it crucial for the USA and its allies in the deal "to be united to prevent that conflict".

Thornberry said Trump should instead work with European countries, which are set to re-impose the sanctions, to improve the agreement.

The accord stipulated a gradual lifting of anti-Iranian sanctions in exchange for Tehran curbing its nuclear program and allowing inspections to confirm that the nature of the program is peaceful.

Netanyahu also dismissed experts who said the documents just proved why a deal was necessary.

Netanyahu said that Israel was "determined to block Iran's aggression against us even if this means a struggle". And in Iran's internal debates, the advocates for engagement with the West would be discredited, probably making any new or better deal impossible for years to come.

In an attempt to salvage the deal, French President Emmanuel Macron has recently pushed to extend its scope to address this issue, as well as the absence of any limits on Iran's conventional missile capabilities and Tehran's role in the region.
