Alasio Sovita Naduva scored a length of the field try after the final siren as Fiji beat Australia 28-22 in Sunday's title decider at the Singapore Sevens to leapfrog South Africa at the top of the world series standings with just two rounds remaining.

A third Fiji try after half-time from Jerry Tuwai looked to have put the islanders out of sight, but Australia fought back valiantly once again, Brandon Quinn and John Porch putting them 22-21 in front before the post-buzzer drama.

Having finished second in Pool D after suffering a surprise defeat to Australia, New Zealand were handed a daunting Games finals rematch against Fiji, who remain locked in a battle with South Africa for the overall series title.

Two wins and a loss in Pool B saw Shujaa qualify for the Main Cup Quarter Finals in Singapore.

Injera scored his 260th try in the series, as Shujaa were relegated to the 5th place semi final, where they lost 17-7 to New Zealand. First up was Kenya who were felled quite clinically, 24-12, thanks to a hat-trick from the speedster Siviwe Soyizwapi.

Speedster Collins Injera almost broke through but a disciplined South Africa defence kept him at bay before Soyizwapi made the scores 17-0 with his second try of the game at the stroke of halftime.
