The signees, who write that collectively they have worked with Brokaw across four decades, add, "As we have advanced across industries - news, publishing, law, business, government - Tom has been a valued source of counsel and support".

Tom Brokaw's defenders at NBC/MSNBC reportedly include, from left, Rachel Maddow, Maria Shriver, Andrea Mitchell and Mika Brzezinski.

After Today show host Matt Lauer was sacked a year ago, Lack said at the time that an internal review was underway to determine "what happened and what we can do to build a culture of greater transparency, openness and respect for each other".

In a statement to The Post, Vester's lawyer said that "my client stands by the allegations which speak for themselves".

The letter was circulated after former NBC News correspondent Linda Vester said she was "groped and assaulted by Tom Brokaw". In particular, she cited a night when Brokaw went to her NY hotel against her wishes, and that night he told her that he wanted "an affair of more than passing affection".

Brokaw denied sexual misconduct charges and told friends in a late-night email that he felt "ambushed and then perp walked" in the media as an avatar of male misogyny and stripped of his honor and achievement. In interviews with Variety magazine and The Washington Post, Vester described two "unwanted advances" from Tom Brokaw in the mid 1990s, including one in which she says he invited himself into her hotel room.

"An enormous amount of thanks goes out to the Cowboys organization for their cooperation in filming throughout the season". Over at CBS Sports, Jared Dubin has 2016 leading receiver Cole Beasley listed as a potential post-NFL draft roster cut.

The chairman of NBC News, Andrew Lack, wrote in a staffwide memo on Friday that "we take allegations such as these very seriously, and act on them quickly and decisively when the facts dictate".

Brokaw denies the former colleague's accusations.

Curry said there was no mention of the incident in Lauer's personnel file, and went on to say there was "pervasive verbal sexual harassment at NBC" while she was at the network. The journalist said she reported the allegations to NBC's management team.

She told Variety that despite not being at fault, she "suffered years of humiliation and isolation" from the incidents. "I think it's a different time".

Vester said the following year in New York, Brokaw sent her suggestive computer messages in the office before later announcing on the phone that he was coming to her hotel room. "He was the most powerful man at the network, and I was the most junior person", she said. Vester, who had reported from the Middle East and covered the Gulf War for NBC, was 28 when she was in Colorado in 1993 with Brokaw to cover Pope John Paul II's visit to the U.S.
