  • Philadelphia 76ers: 3 takeaways from playoff series win over Miami Heat

Ben Simmons has continued his fairytale rookie National Basketball Association season by leading Philadelphia to a 104-91 win over Miami, eliminating the Heat from the playoffs. With the win, the Sixers won the series against the Heat 4-1, as they will wait for the victor of an intense battle taking place between the Boston Celtics and Milwaukee Bucks.

The 76ers missed out on the playoffs in the last few years and we all remember two seasons ago when they recorded miserable ten wins, so the progress is evident as Brett Brown managed to create a team capable of battling for the very top.

The excitement and momentum has made the 76ers one of the favorites in the East - especially after ousting Miami.

The 76ers have proved to be serious championship contenders by winning two games in Miami and then knocking the Heat out in front of delirious fans in Philadelphia on Tuesday.

His 28 points in Game 2 singlehandedly grabbed the Heat their only win in the series.

Philadelphia will head into the next round in a buoyant mood after an impressive all-round offensive display that saw five players make double figures. When are they done?' They just seem never to go away.

Wade was complimentary of the young Sixers after the series.

Heat center Hassan Whiteside went 0 for four from the floor with two points and five rebounds in just 10 minutes of play as he was in foul trouble early once again. After 12 minutes had elapsed the 76ers led 23-21.

Ben Simmons, Joel Embiid and the rest of the Sixers stole the show. He controlled the flow of the game when he was on the court. "For him to come to this type of game". Embiid had 19 points, 12 rebounds and was a plus-22, while Simmons had 14 points, 10 rebounds and six assists to close out a terrific first playoff series in which he almost averaged a triple-double. "This is their first playoff". He always has a sense of when to push the pace and when to slow things down. The memes endure longer than the games. The duo combined for 44 points and 22 rebounds and senior statesman JJ Redick scored 25 points, shooting 5-for-10 from three-point range. However, his skill and willingness to bang inside the paint is what sets him apart.

But his return to the franchise that drafted him was a fun and impactful one regardless. Embiid has to wear a protective mask to keep from making his injury worse.

There weren't too many people, if any at all, who envisioned the Sixers reaching those lofty heights, but they got there nonetheless. J.J. Redick, the free agent acquisition whose arrival indicated that the Sixers were serious about contending, led all scorers with 27 points. Simmons is playing well beyond his years and puts a ton of pressure on opposing defenses when he gets out in the open court.

Johnson fouled out with 4:53 left when he hit Belinelli across the arm.

Cavaliers: Cleveland point guard George Hill is questionable for Wednesday's crucial Game 5 against IN because of back spasms.

Hill has been dealing with back problems since the series opener. Second year pro Dario Saric has been excellent in his first taste of playoff action.

"We gave everything we have", Heat guard Dwyane Wade said.
